 The Nash Academy is seeking salons which adhere to the highest standards of professional excellence, expertise, state-of-the-art facilities and devotion to the Nash belief in compassion for the pet to participate in our Internship Program and be part of the world renowned Nash System of Education. Our students of today are our industry leaders of tomorrow, and we believe in offering them the best education possible, to prepare them for the exciting world of working with man’s best friend.
Online Courses
Nash Academy revolutionized the pet care professions by presenting its first series of online courses in 2004 for students with no previous experience. The first online course series includes the history of the dog, AKC breeds, variations within the breeds, anatomy, care, feeding, vaccination, temperament and behavior, first aid and much more, making students, first and foremost, dog experts. The second online course series presents the theory behind bathing, grooming and styling, plus important information about products, tools, equipment, and overall salon policies and procedures. By offering theory online, all students receive the same very important information.
Students Prepared for Hands On Practical Skills
The students who have completed these online courses are fully prepared to receive their practical skills experience at Nash Approved Internship Sites. Students arrive with a complete vocabulary of professional terminology and a thorough grasp of the theory of bathing, grooming and styling. They are familiar with the necessary tools, equipment, safety gear and overall salon procedures and are prepared to become excellent bathers, groomers and stylists.
Online Training at Home
One of the many wonderful attributes of our online education is that students can take these courses from home, wherever home may be, and then travel to a Nash Approved Internship Site to be mentored by a professional stylist. Many students will take the opportunity to travel out of state or out of the country to complete their internship.
Internship Salons
These Nash Approved Internship Sites are owned or operated by professionals believing in and committed to the Nash System. Our goal at Nash is to bring the best education possible to our students. By utilizing the best, our Nash graduates will continue to be the most sought after professionals in the world, because of dedicated professionals, like you, that are part of the Nash System to mentor our students at these internship locations. If your salon qualifies and you accept this commitment, you will become part of the Nash Team and your salon will be a “Nash Approved Internship Site.” All you have to do is oversee the interns and keep track of their attendance and give an overall evaluation after they complete their internship.
Hire Your Intern
Opportunities for internship salons to hire these well trained graduates after they complete their internship and test out and receive their diploma makes this a win/win situation for all involved. The salon will have the opportunity to work with the intern and the intern will have the opportunity to work in the salon to find out first hand if the professional relationship is a success. An individual who is interested in becoming a professional bather, groomer or stylist, can attend the online and complete his the internship in a salon in his or her hometown and eventually go to work for the salon.
Creating a Standard in the Industry
As the students graduate from Nash and move into their professional careers, the Nash Team will be instrumental in creating a standardization in our industry which has never been seen before, in terms of terminology, methodology, and kindness. We will see the standardization and professionalism move all of us closer to the model of the future for our profession that we all envision, in which highly expert, licensed, articulate bathers, groomers and stylist define and create the respect our profession should garner.
