Preparing for the Future
As you know, our students of today are our industry leaders of tomorrow, and we at Nash have long believed in offering to them the best education possible, preparing them fully for the competitive and exciting world of working with man’s best friend. Because of this, we are seeking partnerships with salons which adhere to the highest standards of professional excellence, expertise, state-of-the-art facilities and devotion to the Nash belief in compassion for the pet, to participate in the Nash Approved Training Site Program and be involved in the world renowned Nash System of Education by teaching our students at your salon.
Online Courses
In 2004, the Nash Academy revolutionized the pet care profession by presenting its first series of online courses, so that all students seeking to become pet care professionals enter the hands-on portion of their training with a thorough, comprehensive background in dog knowledge. The online courses in the “Man’s Best Friend” series include the history of the dog, the AKC breeds, variations within the breeds, anatomy, care, feeding, vaccination, temperament and behavior, first aid and much more, making students, first and foremost, dog experts. For those students entering the pet grooming profession, the next online course series, the “Dog Grooming & Styling Professional,” presents the theory behind bathing, grooming and styling, plus important information about products, tools, equipment, and overall salon policies and procedures. Students also learn the professional terminology and vocabulary needed to master this theory, thus creating a standardization of terminology designed to reduce the confusion long known in our industry over such terms as “feathering” and “furnishings,” or a “kennel trim” and a “sporting trim,” for example. By offering theory online, all students receive the same very important information, eliminating the problems of absent students missing critical lectures and the issues of trying to make up those lectures.
Setting a Standard
The Nash System of online courses fully prepare students for the hands-on portion of their training with a complete vocabulary of professional terminology and a thorough grasp of the theory of bathing, grooming and styling. When our online students first stand before a grooming table with a dog on that table for them to groom, they are familiar with the necessary tools, equipment, safety gear and overall salon procedures. They are not starting from square one. They are prepared to become excellent bathers, groomers and stylists, and no one knows that any better than a Nash graduate.
Without Any Geographical Boundaries
One of the many wonderful attributes of our online education is that students can take these courses from home, wherever home may be: it is truly universal, without any geographical boundaries. However, our students are then faced with the next part of their education: the practical application, or hands-on portion of their training. Many individuals with family obligations or financial restraints cannot leave home for weeks at a time to undertake these practical skills courses and have not been able to attend Nash Academy. For this reason, we created the concept of the Nash Approved Training Sites. These sites are a carefully selected group of salons around the world, owned or operated by Nash graduates or dedicated pet care professionals believing in and committed to the Nash System, where our students who have completed their online courses would go to learn the practical skills portion of our programs.
No One Does It Better Than a Nash Grad
We know and you know, that no one does it better than Nash graduates or dedicated professionals believing in and practicing the Nash philosophy. Too often we have heard from bathers, groomers, stylists and competitors in the contest arena that their dream was to come to the Nash Academy, but because the travel expenses or the time they would have to spend away from their family was just too much, they had to choose other means to receive their education. Our dream now is to bring the practical skills, hands-on training to the student by utilizing the best, our Nash graduates and dedicated professionals trained in the Nash System.
Be Part of The Nash Team
The benefits to all involved are obvious and exciting. First of all, you will become part of the Nash Team. Your salon will be a “Nash Approved Training Site,” your staff will become “Certified Nash Instructors” and your salon will be listed on the Nash Academy website under training sites. The Nash Academy will also help you monitor the training of Nash students, and make itself available for any and all problems or difficulties that may arise with the training. At the same time, all of the time-consuming issues of enrollment, administration and collecting tuition will be taken care of by the Nash Academy. All you have to do is train the students and keep track of grading and attendance; we do all the rest.
Totally Prepared Students
The students sent to you by the Nash Academy will be prepared, knowledgeable in grooming and styling and its professional vocabulary, and about the dog as well, and versed in the compassionate Nash methodology. As your staff will have been trained in this same system, communication will be straightforward and easy, and as the graduating groomers move on in their professional careers, the Nash Academy and you will be instrumental in creating a standardization in our profession which has never been seen before in terms of terminology, methodology, and kindness. This standardization and professionalism moves all of us closer to the model of the future for our profession that we all envision, in which highly expert, licensed, articulate bathers, groomers and stylists define and create the respect our profession should garner.

We are seeking those who are passionately involved in our profession, who attend trade shows and relish the exchange of ideas and thrive on continuing education, who compete at the highest levels in their home town, and who share our excitement at the prospects for the future which our industry has. We are seeking to create a network of the best, dedicated to training the best, and devoted, as well, to the Nash vision of the pet care professions as defined by the highest levels of creativity, professional standards, shared goals, and compassion for the pets.
